
Two of the leading experts in electoral and constitutional reform in Europe held presentations during the “Citizens and institutional reforms” Conference, organised by Median Research Centre (MRC).
David Farrell, Professor of Politics at University College Dublin and the Research Director of the Constitutional Convention in Ireland, spoke about the democratic exercise that took place in Ireland in preparation for the amendment of the constitution and the challenges posed by this process, which started in 2012. Alan Renwick, Deputy Director of the Constitution Unit at University College London offered a comparative perspective on the electoral reform processes in new and consolidated democracies.
